The water channel dredging on Jalan KH mas Mansyur, Kebon Melati Urban Village, Tanah Abang, runs by Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency since Monday (8/5), is targeted to complete by the end of September.

Tanah Abang Sub-district's Water Resource Implementer Unit Head, Eli Menawan Sari, said the dredging is applied along 950 meter with 60 cm of width and height.

"The mud thickness reaches 30 cm. It means the channel is unable to accommodate more water," she said, Friday (8/30).
According to her, the dredging involves 15 personnel for both road sides. The progress reaches 355 meter or 39 percent up to Wednesday (8/28). And the other side reaches 315 meter or 33 percent.
"Our target is to complete the dredging by the end of September," she added.
Resident of RW 17 Kebon Melati Urban Village, Rahmat, appreciated the dredging and hoped it will eliminate inundation.
"It is hoped the project can be completed before rainy season," he hoped.
